*Note - all burls shipped from Tasmania are sealed (the whitish substance you see) to slow drying and hopefully prevent checking. For those of you who like turning natural top pieces (as I do), it is easily removable by pouring hot water over the top and maybe a little light brushing . Any remaining residue can be removed with acetone. It's also easily removed if you rough turn a piece to 3/4" thickness (since these blocks are somewhat green) and "cook" the piece in your oven for 24 hours at the lowest possible setting (generally 170F) . . . when I did so with the natural top vase below, I found there was not too much distortion and turned it to its final 1/16" thickness with no worries the next day . . . and there's been no movement since.

The natural top vase is from this most recent shipment below . . . cuts like butter since it's on the green side . . . I cooked this one for 24 hours and finished turned it the next day
